On Sept. 9, Arizona will make a return trip to Starkville after the Bulldogs traveled to Tucson a few weeks back and came home with a road victory over the Wildcats in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. On Nov. 4, Mississippi State returns home to host Kentucky in what will kick off a stretch of three of the last four games set at Davis Wade Stadium. However the Southeastern Conference officially announced on Friday that MSU will host Auburn in Starkville on December 12, followed by a December 19 home game against Missouri. The Action Network's Brett McMurphy has been all over how Notre Dame caused some commotion in the bowl selection process today. When the Fighting Irish are not in the College Football Playoff or the New Year's Six, they join the bowl pool for the ACC, where they play five league opponents per year. That made Notre Dame available to the Gator Bowl and the Holiday Bowl, and McMurphy reported that both bowl games (an ACC/SEC for Gator, ACC/P12 for Holiday) wanted the Fighting Irish. It will mark the second meeting between the two teams with the last matchup coming in 2008 when State defeated the Lions, 34-10, in Starkville.

He also notes that South Carolina is now set for the Gator Bowl while Mississippi State, another candidate for the Gator Bowl, will now go to the Reliaquest Bowl in Tampa. Mississippi State will host in-state rival Ole Miss in Starkville on Thanksgiving (Nov. 23).

Rara Thomas is the Bulldogs' top target with 560 yards and is second on the team with 5 TD catches. State’s first road test will come on Sept. 23 when the Bulldogs make the trip to Columbia, S.C., to take on South Carolina for the first time since 2016. No. 25 UTSA will face off against No. 24 Troy in the Cure Bowl, which stands as perhaps the best Group of Five matchup of bowl season between two conference champions.
