You can repeatedly exit the house and replay the Underhalls level, but until you find all the clues and pieces to get to the end, you're stuck in an endless loop of fighting demons and exploring the house. However, MyHouse appears to be one map – an impossibility. So players who know how Doom maps work immediately felt uneasy about it. It is just one of the many Doom laws that the mod breaks to create a liminal space that puts the player on edge.

But the details can be left for you to discover yourself. It’s worth noting from the off that House Of Leaves is far from your average novel Book-to-film adaptation history is already filled with the corpses of projects declared dead due to “unfilmable material”. Such complaints usually stem from attempts at adapting books written in regular prose format.

Enter water house and go to some room in the basement. Enter some room and leave and then i'm in some bathroom backrooms type shit. I feel like if I had all the right artifacts, the sky room should have its own passage back to Regular House, and that would take me to the living room painting. I'm stuck here, and don't know what to do to finish the map. But there's definitely something in this staircase.

What Is MyHouse.Wad?
Given the adaptation curse that no one can deny, it’d be no surprise if a Doom 2 mod inspired by a novel would result in the ultimate failure. There are endless layers of subtext and meta-textual connections in House Of Leaves, and MyHouse mimics these, but with the copypasta horror of the internet. Also the shortcut from the regular house 2 to the brutalist house can only be done once. I checked to determine that you can kill Evil Dog by killing Good Dog, but then I reloaded my save because that's terrible and I didn't want to do it. As far as I could tell, it doesn't open up anything else in the brutalist sections.
Undoubtedly, solving the puzzles within the house and getting all three endings takes much longer than that on the first playthrough. For several months, Veddge continued posting screenshots and progress reports. However, several cryptic entries peppered throughout his discourse show that not all was right with the mod. Veddge starts having trouble sleeping and says the map has quite literally taken on a life of its own. Outside of an occasional monster popping up behind you, Doom was never really a horror game. It was a shooter with post-grunge, pre-nu metal intensity.
MyHouse creates the same feeling, but inside one of the greatest games ever made. It's as if someone took the original Mario Brothers, but made it so that when you fell into a pipe you entered a Silent Hill style horror game, all developed by a random Mario Maker user. The internet is a treasure trove of post-modern reenactments of our favorite cultural moments. In MyHouse, the entire history of a community’s love for Doom, a pastiche of one of the 21st century's most esoteric and mysterious novels, and a work of personal love co-exist in the same 66.5 MB package. You enter a house built for a friend, and by the end you fully understand what that means. If you leave the house with the blue keycard, you can open the exit gate and simply exit the map.

Myers, the UCLA professor of Jewish history, said the violent night represented a “total systems failure”. Administrators at the university said in a 12.40am statement that they had called in law enforcement officers to stem the violence. The violence continued from 11pm until 3am, with security guards and law enforcement officials at the scene initially retreating or failing to intervene, multiple news outlets reported.
Thomas and I were into amateur Doom mapping in the early 00s but I had never seen this map of his prior to uncovering it on one of the old floppy discs. As a way of paying tribute to him and all the great memories we had together, I took the plunge and installed Doom Builder in order to polish up his map and add a few modern amenities just for convenience sake. There appear to be six levels to the staircase that endlessly loop on themselves. Traveling up the stairs takes you to various exit doors which all have different behaviors.
In essays like The Case for Letting Malibu Burn, Davis has argued that California’s natural disasters are not really natural at all, but the result of greed, racism and lack of foresight from the region’s power brokers. In City of Quartz – published in 1990, two years before the Rodney King uprising – he depicted Los Angeles as a white supremacist police state that had successfully marketed itself as paradise. Hannah Wiley covers the Bay Area and North Coast for the Los Angeles Times.
I don't believe it's possible to get the Soulsphere fairly, since it's clearly intended as a red herring to pull you outside. Once you see it through the window in Regular House 1, you can actually clip outside through the window and grab it. Then, when you go back into the house, you'll still be in the Regular House 1, and you'll see yet another Soulsphere outside the window -- it respawns. If you do this multiple times, it continues to respawn, and the item count goes up by one. That said, cheats seem to be an intended part of the experience of playing this map, so if you go outside and get the Soulsphere this way, I think that's probably "legit," and you can call it an unmarked secret.
MyHouse has a professional level of sound design to rival P.T. Taken all together, this sparkling technical mastery of horror makes you slowly realize something. The creator, Veddge, whose real name is Steven Nelson, posted the mod to Doomworld on March 2, 2023, claiming that the mod was a polished version of a map from his deceased friend, Tom, whose full name is Thomas Allord. The map is a recreation of his friend's house, which seems to be all that there is to the map, until you explore further. Ducky doesn't count as an artifact for the house?????
If you loop around this staircase different numbers of times, you can use the metal door again and get different results. From what I could tell, two do nothing, one leads to the same staircase loop you're already in, one leads to an empty room with a bright cloudy sky for walls, and one leads to a FIREBLU passageway that takes you back to Ruined House 1. To start with, I'm going to refer to the first-time player's ending -- the one where you ride the airplane back to Ruined House and exit into the empty lot for sale -- as Ending 1. Last August I lost a good childhood friend of mine and took it pretty hard. When I was visiting my hometown for his funeral, I connected with his parents who shared with me some of his old belongings. Among them was a copy of an old map of his backed up on a 3.5” floppy from high school.
Leave the mirror reality and follow the trail of colored balls to a office closet. The map requires the GZDoom hardware renderer to run properly. Jumping and crouching are disabled, but freelook is permitted.
There are creatures in this WAD that are far more scary than anything the original Doom ever threw at you, and, no matter how deep you travel into the house, a single uncollected secret mocks you from the pause screen. Whether or not you have played Doom (and you really should, it can be played onpotatoes), you know Doom. You’ve seen the Marine in the green helmet shootingdemons. The sound of the shotgun and thegrunt of creatures being mowed down by a gatling gun lives in our subconscious.MyHouse warps these memories. In MyHouse you run into creatures that do not exist in Doom — that don’t, as far as I’m aware, exist in any other WAD.
He opened his account in 2004 and was active, posting occasional banal Doom-related commentary before disappearing in 2006. Veddge reappeared last year, discussing finishing a Doom 2 map that his recently deceased friend Thomas had worked on before he died. John Romero, Doom’s original map designer, recently played My House and only had good things to say about his experience. If he hasn’t already, then maybe he should read House Of Leaves. But that’s an absolute anomaly in the history of video games. We’re talking about a tie-in that’d be better than its movie even if the movie were good.
MyHouse was so affecting, that I went out and read House Of Leaves to better come to grips with what I had played. I played this on Sunday & I've got to say this is fantastic map. At first it seems like a typical My House WAD with a lot of Doom cute details, but it evolves into something so much more amazing.
